What is Working4Good?
Working4Good is a specialised service for Hull which aims to assist in building stronger, better connected communities by supporting local people into opportunities that matter to them. We run dedicated programmes of tailored support depending on your needs.
Volunteer Academy Training Programme
Providing free high-quality core training, the Volunteer Academy Training Programme is available to new or existing volunteers as well as those interested in learning more about volunteering. The programme consists of a one-day course which covers the fundamentals every volunteer should know as well as onward support to help prepare them for any roles they currently or are looking to undertake.
Volunteer to Employment Pathway Programme
The Volunteer to Employment Pathway Programme provides 16 - 18 year olds individualised support to gain the knowledge, skills and experience needed to progress into future employment opportunities. As part of this, we have designed a purpose-built platform that provides access to specific young person work-related experience opportunities.
Who manages Working4Good?
Working4Good has been designed and delivered by Hull Community and Voluntary Services (Hull CVS).
Hull CVS has been an established organisation in Hull since 1981, and aims to support the development of voluntary and community groups and volunteering in Hull.
As advocates for community voice, volunteering and community empowerment, Hull CVS also directly deliver a number of community based projects and actively work to attract additional resource in to the local VCSE sector, be it through:
- Working with businesses to offer grants and employee supported volunteering to the sector
- Providing funding pathways from the public and statutory sectors to VCSE organisations
- Bringing together networks of VCSE organisations to be better positioned to work in collaboration for opportunities.
Who funds Working4Good?
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is a part of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda which provides £2.6 billion of new funding for local investment by March 2025 and supports the wider commitment to level up all parts of the UK by delivering on each of the levelling up objectives:
- Boost productivity, pay, jobs and living standards by growing the private sector, especially in those places where they are lagging
- Spread opportunities and improve public services, especially in those places where they are weakest
- Restore a sense of community, local pride and belonging, especially in those places where they have been lost
- Empower local leaders and communities, especially in those places lacking local agency
